There will be three categories with a prize for best photo in each category.
Best Underwater Photo taken in the UK.
Best Underwater Photo taken abroad.
Best Surface Interval Photo.
The winners will be voted for by the membership of the club after all entries have been submitted. The competiton will run from December 1st 2007 - 31st November 2008, winners will be announced in December 2008.
You must submit only photographs taken by yourself.
Your membership must be current when a photo is taken & and at the end of the competition.
Photos must be taken between December 1st 2007 GMT and November 31st 2008 GMT inclusive.
To submit a photograph send a full resolution digital image file (JPEG or bitmap) to the diving officer, stating:
1) Title for photograph.
2) Date & Location the photo was taken.
3) Which category you want the photo considered for.
4) Any post processing you have done (see below).
Each member may submit up to five photographs for each category. You may change a photograph for another photograph up until the closing date of the competiton by emailing the diving officer, BUT you may only request a change once per week (although you can change any/all of your photos at that time) - The D.O doesn't have that much free time, so be sensible please!
Images may be framed (cropped) and rotated, colour corrected (including making black and white) but no other digital manipulation is permitted! If you do any of the above, you must include that in your description when submitted.
If you have a film camera you can give the D.O a print and have it scanned in.
All images entered will be displayed on the club website for people to view.
No SLR's! Compact cameras only.
Voting: After the close of the competition (31st November), all club members can vote for their favourite photo in each category by emailing the club treasurer who has kindly volunteered not to take part so she can impartially collect the votes. You may vote once for each category. Voting will close one week after the close of the competition.
In the event of a tie, the prize will be shared between the winners.
You are not allowed to vote for yourself!
Underwater photos must be taken in or under the water.
UK photos must be taken in UK waters, obviously (including inland water).
'Surface Interval' photos must have a diving or dive club related subject and must be taken above water.
No cheating, no arguments! It's for fun!
